Story Mapping
The children have been making story maps of their stories and have been looking at texts to collect story openers (adverbials and prepositions), verbs, adjectives and interesting words for 'said'. They have added their vocabulary to their story maps to make their stories exciting.
We love outdoors!
We have some new planks of wood in our outdoor area. The communication between the children in this area today has been fantastic. They worked well in a team and created a balancing extravaganza!
Salt Mines Talk and Walk
We were lucky enough to have another local resident, Mrs Hogarth, come into school to talk to us about the old Preesall salt mines. She talked to us about how the salt mines worked and the uses of salt and then we went to explore the area where the mines existed and the old branch lines for theā¦
Salt Mines Walk
After a rainy morning, we set out from school to find the area of the old Preesall salt mines.
Train Branch Line
We saw the branch line which took salt from the mines to the main line where it was distributed across the UK and the World.
Salt Mine Pumps
We looked for the old pumps in the fields. These were used to pump water in to dissolve the salt.
Acres Pit
Wow! This is the pit which was created when the land subsided.
