Lancashire Fire and Rescue came to school to teach Year 1 and 2 about fire safety at home.
We were chosen by North West Ambulance Service to help launch their new materials for teaching children when to dial 999. One of the ambulance crew (who happens to be one of our dads!) read an alternative fairy story to our pupils where the main characters required emergency care. Members of our School Council then enjoyed a photo shoot and being interviewed!
Our Year 6 pupils did Bikeability training in the Autumn Term. Stage 1 involved manouvering around obstacles on the playground; then in Stage 2 they went out into the local area and learnt how to ride safely on the roads. The weather was particularly unkind to them but they persevered and achieved their awards!
The children have been learn first aid skills during our Heart Start week. Year 1s learn how to get help quickly by dialing 999. Each year they build on their prior knowledge learning how to deal with an unconscious casualty, severe bleed, coking, suspected cardiac arrest then in Year 6 the children learned an extremely important skill CPR.
