Painting play dough!
Today we have been painting our play dough models, the children worked really hard using different sized brushes and mixing colours to create the closest colour to their animal.
Creating animals!
Yesterday we created our own animals from play dough and then designed our animals habitat and what it eats. We used fantastic vocabularly as we were designing our animal such as push, pull, twist, stretch,squash and pinch!
Dancing!
Today a dance teacher came in and taught us a dance routine to Charlie and the chocolate factory! We had lots of fun and re-told the story using some cool dance moves.
Paramedic visit
We had a fantastic morning learning about a paramedics job, we looked through all of their different medical bags and had the opportunity to use some of the equipment. We also had the chance to explore the ambluance.
Positional language
This morning the children in recpetion have been using positional language to complete tasks on the play ground! We are all fantastic at positional language (Maths: shape, space, measure 40-60 months)!
Baby Chicks!
We had a special visitor today, Mrs Hunter brought her chicks in for us all to see! We all had the opportunity to hold the chicks and we learnt lots about them.
Shape, shape whats that shape?
Today the children in Ash class had to listen to the properites of a 2D shape then run to the shape that was being described. We all had lots of fun and could recognise shapes from how they are being described!
Labeling insects
As part of our continous provision the children in Ash class have had the oppotunity to look at features of insects through large inflatables. This weeks challenge is for each child in Ash class to label at least one part of one of the insects- some children in Year 1 have already completed this…
Carnivore, herbivore or omnivore?
This afternoon Ash class have been finding hidden pictures/words and putting them in the correct section of our venn diagram. We found lots of animals that are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores!
Insect spotting and mud collecting
We went on a mission to find insects this morning, we also collected mud for our mud kitchen in the sunshine! We have had a lovely day learning outdoors.
Matching fractions
Year 1 have been matching pictures to the correct fractions- they worked in pairs and were all fantastic at recognising halves, quarters and whole ones.
Alphabet Bingo!
The children in reception have been competing with one another in a game of Alphabet bingo! This helps us to recognise lower and upper case letters.
