As part of our geography/history walk on 'Our Local Area' Willow Class completed a trail walk from Knott End through Preesall taking photographs and finding out information on points of interest alomg the way. Our journey began with a talk from local resident, Mr Taylor at Knott End Cafe (which we learnt used to be a train station!) then we travelled along the Esplanade and back to school. Did you know that ferry used to transport lots of people to work at Fleetwood as fisherman? And, that tight rope walkers used to perform on a rope tied between the Round House and the Saracen's Head pub in Preesall as part of the Tosset Festival? The children learned how the school used to be at the bottom of the hill and a wooden peg mill was once on the hill, but blew away in a huge storm in 1839! They were interested to find the hill they walk up each day was once a tunnel for the train.
