In the week before half-term, we planted 36 fruit trees on the edge of our sports field to make what will become our community orchard. We offered families the opportunity to donate a tree and we were inundated with requests! Each family booked a slot for a socially distanced tree-planting session and luckily the weather was kind to us despite the freezing temperatures. Pupils from Pre-School up to Year 6 were involved and what was particularly special was that some families chose to make their tree a memorial for a recently lost loved one. We will now watch our orchard grow and eagerly await the first fruits. We hope this area will be enjoyed by families and members of the local community for years to come.
