Autumn Term 2 in Beech Class!
We had such a busy term and learnt so much!
We had a week focus on Diwali, learning all about why it is celebrated, how people celebrate it and even created our own Diya lamps out of salt dough and paper plates! We made them super sparkly and they were beautiful!
We had lots of learning opportunities throughout the half term, looking out onto the fields with binoculars to see what we can find, mark making, pairs matching, farm building, tower building and more! We have had plenty of opportunities to make marks in sand, look at maps and draw our families. We even found a giant box that we just had to decorate and climb inside!
We learnt all about Bonfire Night and how to be safe around fireworks. We thought they were so pretty that we had to make our own firework artwork out of oil pastels and paint wash! They looked incredible and the children had so much fun remembering what colours of fireworks they had seen and what noises they made!
We had a week all about Remembrance Day, remembering those who gave their lives for us. We made sun catcher poppies which are just stunning and you can see them on our windows! We also decorated some yummy biscuits with red icing and a blue centre to represent poppies. We even used apples to stamp poppies with red paint! The children took part in their own minute silence to remember all those who have fallen.
We took part in Children in Need, making our own spotty crowns and following the dot to dots! We played lots of games to represent this day.
The children decided to turn the home corner into a hairdressers on multiple occasions, using the capes, spoons, forks and much more to 'cut and style' our friend's hair. Our imaginations went wild!
In the build up to Christmas, we decorated biscuits, had delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows, decorated our Christmas tree, learnt all about winter by saving the animals from the ice and playing in fake snow!
We ended the term with the children wanting to colour tidy the blocks (this made Miss Reeves very happy!!) and celebrated with an end of term Christmas party. We played pass the parcel, musical statues and ate lots of yummy party food.
I can't wait to see what this half term brings us!
